Man experiencing low libido and fatigue in Hingham, Massachusetts

What Men Should Know About Low Sex Drive

Hi guys,

Let’s talk about something men often notice—but don’t always want to talk about.

A change in sex drive.

Maybe your libido isn’t what it used to be.

Maybe your energy is down.

Maybe erections are less predictable.

Maybe your motivation has changed.

Maybe you just don’t feel quite like yourself.

And the first thought is often:

“My testosterone must be low.”

Sometimes testosterone absolutely plays a role.

But libido and sexual function are often much bigger than one lab value.

Your body is constantly responding to what is happening around it.

Stress.

Sleep.

Blood sugar.

Weight changes.

Circulation.

Inflammation.

Alcohol.

Medications.

Relationship stress.

Metabolic health.

Hormone changes.

The nervous system.

It all matters.

Think about it this way:

If your body is spending most of the day dealing with stress, exhaustion, poor sleep, blood sugarswings, or chronic inflammation…

it may not exactly be prioritizing sexual performance.

Your body is trying to manage the basics first.

And there is another piece men do not talk about enough:

Pressure.

Once something changes sexually, it is very easy to start thinking about it.

“Is this going to happen again?”

“Why am I not in the mood?”

“Why isn’t my body responding the way it used to?”

And now what was originally a physical issue can also become a stress issue

Suddenly, instead of being present, you’re analyzing what your body is doing.

That’s where the nervous system starts getting involved too.

This is why our functional medicine approach looks beyond testosterone alone.

We may evaluate:

• testosterone and other hormones

• thyroid function• metabolic health

• blood sugar and insulin

• cardiovascular and vascular health

• sleep quality

• stress

• inflammation

• medications

• nutrient status

• weight and body composition

• overall energy and recovery

Because changes in libido can sometimes be telling us something about the bigger picture.

Maybe the issue isn’t simply:

“How do we increase sex drive?”

Maybe the better question is:

“Why doesn’t my body have the energy, balance, or capacity it used to have?”

Sometimes low libido isn’t the whole problem.

Sometimes it’s the clue.

Our goal is not just to chase a testosterone number.

It is to help you feel stronger, healthier, more energized, and more like yourself again.

Better sleep.

Better metabolic health.

Better hormone balance.

Better energy.

Better confidence.

Better sexual wellness.

All of those pieces matter.

If something has changed and you’ve been wondering whether it is “just age,” it may be worthtaking a closer look.

With gratitude,
